This semester, we had two dissection labs and were given the chance to dissect both a rat and a pig. After carefully opening each animal, we labeled the organs and took note of their location, purpose, and biological significance.
We were also able to compare the anatomy of the rat with that of the pig. Among other differences we discovered, we observed that rats lack gall bladders while pigs have them.
Being able to learn about the anatomy of the pig and rat served as an excellent primer to next semester's Biology course, Anatomy & Physiology I.
